Teacup Pig Tusks

Teacup pigs are the miniature pigs having cute body structures. When the baby pigs are born, they have sharp small sized teeth and these usually fall off within first year. All pigs get tusks as it is the genetic feature, but there is nothing to worry about them. These tusks wholly depend on the age and gender of the pig. They fully develop when the animal reaches three years of age. Some varieties of pigs don’t have protruding tusks and they remain inside the lip. Tusks are not a problem anyway and they should never be removed. It is a big procedure to remove them and should be performed surgically.

Teacup Pig Tusks

Tusks are present in all the pigs and teacup pigs are no exception. These Micro pigs grow to the full size like a small dog and their tusks don’t get too large. They might show out of the mouth and protrude a little bit, but not before the age of three. These tusks are not harmful in any way and should not be trimmed, till they cause any problem for you or the pig. The pig should not be completely conscious while the tusks are trimmed as they can give painful experience to the pet. Usually, the effect of Isofluorine Anesthesia gas is used to treat serious problems and perform local surgeries. Male tusks are larger than that of females, but should be avoided for trimming. Don’t try to do this activity by your own and take help of a perfect vet for the same. You can keep chemicals and toxic substances away from the reach of a pig to avoid any unwanted circumstances.

Tusks are grown in every pig’s body and these are a part of their physical features. You should keep proper care of your pets and get their health checkups done on time to make sure that they are healthy.
